NEWS FROM YOUR CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEEPlease plan to join us on December 18th for an afternoon of fun, food, fellowship and festivity as we celebrate our annual Living Nativity on the north front steps of the church. We will begin at 1:00 pm and plan to remain outdoors (weather permitting) until 2:00. We invite all children, youth and adults to participate. Costumes will be provided and carols will be sung to the crowds passing by. All the traditional characters will be present, Mary, Joseph, the Baby Jesus, shepherds, wise men and angels. Even some animals may show up to adore the Child. Following the Living Nativity we will join in the Fellowship Hall for a soup and sandwich lunch with hot beverages to thaw our frozen fingers. A sign up sheet will be posted this Sunday if you can help with soup, sandwiches and/or cookies or bar treats. At around 3:00 pm we will depart for caroling to some of our shut-ins around town. We plan to conclude by about 4:30 pm.
The Christian Education Committee is making available a daily devotional booklet based on the traditional carol “Silent Night.” The booklet contains a short prayer for each day in December leading up to Christmas Day, along with a suggested bible reading for each day. Copies will be available in church starting this Sunday.
Please consider purchasing one of our beautifully photographed 2012 calendars for your holiday gift giving. The proceeds from the sale of these calendars will benefit our youth as we prepare for the biennial Baptist Youth Convention “Immerse” in Washington, DC in July, 2012. We need your help to continue raising the necessary funds for the trip. Currently, Kelsey Towslee, Haylee Hess and Dylan MacFarlane are registered to attend. If you know of any other teens aged 14-18 who would be interested in attending, please let one of the Christian Education Committee members know as soon as possible. The pre-registration deadline is fast approaching.
Thank you for your support and blessings for the Advent season.
